    Exploring and conquering the data space, while preparing the X planets to truly leverage the resource, represents a significant transformation challenge. This transformation needs to be driven by a coalition of X Astronauts. The transformation strength of this collision of Astronauts can be assessed by: 1) the level of urgency for moving towards the data era, 2) the established guidance to show the path in the transformation, and 3) the level of empowerment to take actions towards the objective.

    Why care about this?

    For any transformation, the established urgency for change is a prerequisite to mobilise the needed energy within the company. We differentiate between: “Complacency” when the company is happy with the status quo and is not seeing an urgency to change; “False urgency” when the company seems to mobilise energy for change but is in fact rather creating agitation to give the impression of urgency rather than outcome oriented actions; “True urgency” when the company indeed has the right level of urgency but is still too short term oriented; and “True patient urgency” when the right level of urgency is established and the company is aware that data-driven transformation requires time to be successful.

    X’s Urgency score is at Complacency which shows that the company sees little need to change. A missing sense of urgency is a major barrier to be successful in the data-driven transformation.
